And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Aloo Ki Tikki - Grill Pan Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled and mashed 4 medium

  • Green Chillies 2

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Ginger finely chopped 2 inch piece

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Coriander and mint chutney as required


Step 1

Place the mashed potatoes in a bowl, add the bread slices and knead together. Add green chillies, ginger and salt and mix well. Add coriander leaves and mix. Heat oil in the Grill Pan.

Step 2

Divide the potato mixture into equal portions and shape them into round balls. Press them lightly. Place the tikkis in the pan and cook for two to three minutes.

Step 3

Turn them and cook for a further two to three minutes or till both the sides are equally golden. Serve hot with green coriander and mint chutney.
