And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Aloo Halwa - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed 3 large

  • Ghee 1/4 cup

  • Raisins 2 tablespoons

  • Cashewnuts halved 2 tablespoons

  • Almonds slivered 8-10

  • Mawa (khoya) grated 1/2 cup

  • Sugar cup

  • Milk 1/4 cup

  • Green cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Saffron (kesar) 1 large pinch + for garnishing

  • Pistachios chopped for garnish

Method

Step 1

Heat ghee in a non-stick kadai, add raisins and cashew nuts and roast till golden brown. Add almonds and sauté for a minute.

Step 2

Add potatoes and mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add mawa, sugar, milk and green cardamom powder and mix and sauté for 4-5 minutes.

Step 3

Add saffron and mix, cook for 1-2 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and transfer into serving bowls.

Step 4

Garnish with chopped pistachios and saffron. Serve warm.
