Triphala Churan

A traditional digestive churan made from baheda, haritaki, and dried Indian gooseberries, ground into a fine powder and served with warm water after meals.

Method

  1. Put the baheda in a mortar and coarsely crush with the help of a pestle. Discard the seeds. 
  2. Similarly, coarsely crush the haritaki in a mortar and discard their seeds as well. 
  3. Dry roast the dried Indian gooseberries, baheda and haritaki in a non-stick pan for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Take the pan off the heat and allow to cool. Put the roasted mixture in a grinder jar and grind to a fine powder. Strain through a fine sieve into a bowl. 
  5. Store in an air tight container.
  6. Mix 1 teaspoon of the prepared churan in 1 glass of warm water and serve in the night after food.
