Middle Eastern cuisine comprises of food eaten by the people of the various countries of the Middle East. The cuisine of the region is diverse while having a degree of homogeneity.  Some commonly used ingredients include olives and olive oil, pitas, honey, sesame seeds, dates, sumac, chickpeas, mint and parsley.

Ingredients for Umali Recipe

  • Croissants 5

  • Milk , reduced to half 2 litres

  • Sweet condensed milk 200 grams

  • Mixed nuts (almonds and pistachios) , chopped 1/2 cup


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180° C.

Step 2

Thickly slice the croissants and put them into a baking dish.

Step 3

Add sweet condensed milk to reduced milk and mix well. Pour this over the croissants and sprinkle the mixed nuts on top.

Step 4

Keep the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-40 minutes.

Step 5

Bring the dish out of the oven and serve hot in individual bowls.
