You should always stack your fridge with at least a dozen of them. Why? Handiest food to have around! Kids are hungry? Make some egg sandwiches. Guests come in, make an egg curry or egg biryani. You are hungry? Poach an egg and have it topped with stir fried veggies – perfect protein source for the body! Check the freshness – keep a raw egg in a bowl of water. Fresh eggs will stay at the bottom while stale eggs stand on end or float.

Ingredients for Toffee Creme Brulee Recipe

  • Whole Egg 1

  • Fresh Cream 2

  • Castor sugar 3/4 cup

  • Fresh cream 1 1/2 cups

  • Vanilla essence 2 teaspoons

  • Condensed milk 1/2 cup


Step 1

Preheat oven to 110°C.

Step 2

Whisk together whole egg, egg yolks and half cup of castor sugar in a bowl.

Step 3

Heat cream in a non-stick pan. Add egg mixture and mix well. Add vanilla essence and condensed milk and mix well.

Step 4

Pour the mixture into four individual ramekin moulds. Put the moulds in a baking tray, half filled with water. Cover with aluminium foil and prick the foil with a fork.

Step 5

Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for twenty minutes.

Step 6

Remove from oven and cool down to room temperature. Refrigerate for one to two hours.

Step 7

Before serving, sprinkle the remaining sugar equally on all the moulds and melt the sugar with a blow torch.

Step 8

Serve immediately.
