Ingredients list for Tamatar Ki Kadhi
- 4 medium Tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons Musterd seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- a pinch Asafoetida
- 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
- 15-20 Curry leaves
- 1 inch piece Ginger
- 3 Garlic cloves
- 2-3 Green chillies slit
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- to taste Salt
- 2 tablespoons Gram flour (besan)
- 1 tablespoon Fresh coriander leaves chopped
Method
- Roughly chop 2 tomatoes and put in a blender jar. Chop the remaining two finely.
- Heat 2 tbsps oil in a deep non stick pan, add mustard seeds, asafoetida, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and saute. Add curry leaves, finely chopped tomatoes and mix.
- Roughly chop ginger, crush garlic and add to the blender jar and hand blend to a puree. Add this puree to the pan. Add green chillies, turmeric powder and salt and mix.
- Mix gram flour with ¼ cup water and add to the pan and mix well. Cover and cook till thick.
- Add coriander leaves and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
