Ingredients list for Rice

  • 2 cups Basmati rice
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. To cook rice on the gas stove, take the amount of water in the ratio 1:2, i.e., for every one part of rice there is two parts of water.
  2. Wash ½ cup rice under running water. Drain and soak for 20 minutes.
  3. Heat a deep non-stick pan and add 1 cup boiling water to it.
  4. Drain the rice and add to the pan alongwith salt. Cover and cook till it comes to a boil. Reduce heat and cook for 15 minutes or till the rice is fully done. Let it stand for 3-5 minutes and serve hot.
  5. To cook rice in microwave, take a baking dish. Add ½ cup rice and spread evenly. Add 1½ cups of water and salt, cover the dish with cling film, make small holes on it for steam to escape and place in microwave on HIGH (100%) for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove cling film, mix the rice and serve hot.
