Yes, though other meats being more common, biryani eaters all over the world can easily swear by mutton. And not just biryanis, curries, bakes and all other preparations with this wonderful meat are always special. Did you know, unlike other dishes, a day-old mutton prep will always be all the more tastier on the palate! Try it the next time you plan on to take on this meat.

Ingredients for Punjabi Roasted Mutton Recipe

  • Boneless Mutton cut into 2 inch pieces 750 grams

  • Malt Vinegar 1 tablespoon

  • Ginger paste 1 tablespoon

  • Garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Coriander powder 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Garam masala powder 1 tablespoon

  • Crushed black peppercorns 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli paste 2 tablespoons

  • Malt vinegar 3 tablespoons

  • Mustard oil 3 tablespo

  • Potatoes halved 2 medium

  • Onions cut into wedges 2 medium

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Preheat the oven at 180° C. Lightly pound mutton pieces and transfer them in a bowl.

Step 2

Add papaya paste, ginger paste, garlic paste, coriander powder, garam masala powder, crushed black peppercorns, red chilli paste, vinegar, mustard oil and mix well.

Step 3

Add potatoes, onions and salt and mix well.

Step 4

Grease an aluminium tray with mustard oil and spread the mutton mixture on it.

Step 5

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Transfer on to a serving plate and serve hot.
