Prawn On Sugarcane Stick

Prawn and fish fillet mixed with spices and wrapped around sugar cane stick, grilled and served with spicy sauce. This recipe has featured on the show Khanakhazana.

Ingredients list for Prawn On Sugarcane Stick

  • 300 grams Prawns
  • 4 Sugarcane sticks
  • 1/4 cup Flaked white fish fillet
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 2 Fresh red chillies
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice
  • 3 cloves Garlic,chopped
  • 2 Fresh red chillies,finely chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Soy sauce


  1. Put the prawns in a mixer container. Add fish, salt, sugar, garlic, fresh red chillies and lemon juice and grind to a fine mixture. Transfer into a bowl and divide into four portions.
  2. Dampen your hand and take each portion of the fish mixture and wrap around a sugarcane stick. Heat a grill pan and place these sticks on the pan and grill. Brush a little oil on the surface, flip and continue to grill till both the sides are evenly golden. To make the sauce, put the garlic in a bowl.
  3. Add fresh red chillies, salt, sugar and vinegar and mix well. Add soy sauce and mix well. Let it stand for at least half an hour before using. Put the sauce in small serving bowls, place one prawn on sugarcane stick in each bowl and serve.
