Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Phalon Ka Raita Recipe

  • Pear 1 medium

  • Mango 1 medium

  • Ripe banana 1 large

  • Mango 1 medium

  • Apple 1 medium

  • Yogurt 2 cups

  • Pomegranate seeds (anardana) 1/4 cup

  • Fresh mint leaves chopped 6-8 leaves

  • Yellow mustard seeds 1/4 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Black peppercorns 6-8

  • Sea salt to taste

  • Red chilli flakes 1/4 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Peel pear, peach, banana and mango. If you want peel apple too. Chop all fruits into small one centimeter cubes.Whisk yogurt and add all the fruits along with half of the pomegranate pearls.

Step 2

Add chopped mint leaves to the raita. Dry roast mustard seeds, cumin seeds, black peppercorns and sea salt.

Step 3

Add red chilli flakes and crush. Add the crushed masala to raita and mix well.

Step 4

Serve chilled decorated with remaining pomegranate pearls.
