Corn was indigenous to America, but is now grown throughout the world. It is used as a vegetable, briefly boiled or roasted or eaten with butter. And it would also interest you to know that the favourite popcorn, made by popping the small corn kernels, is a wholesome cereal food and is easily digested. Besides this, corn sees its use in various other ways – salads, soups, subzis and even sweets too!

Ingredients for Makai Halwa Recipe

  • Corn kernels 400 grams

  • Ghee 3 tablespoons

  • Cashewnuts roughly chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Raisins 2 tablespoons

  • Green cardamom powder a pinch

  • Sugar 4 tablespoons

  • Khoya/mawa grated 1 cup


Step 1

Coarsely grind corn without using water.Heat ghee in a non stick kadai.

Step 2

Add cashewnuts and raisins and sauté lightly.

Step 3

Add corn and sauté for 10-15 minutes.

Step 4

Add green cardamom powder, sugar and mix.

Step 5

Add khoya and sauté for 5-6 minutes.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
