Ingredients list for Gozleme (Turkish Bread)

  • 3 cups Refined flour (maida)
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese grated
  • 2 tablespoons Yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Castor sugar (caster sugar)
  • a pinch Salt
  • 1 cup Processed cheese grated
  • for basting Melted butter

Method

  1. Combine yeast, castor sugar and two tablespoons of warm water in a bowl. Set aside to activate for ten to fifteen minutes.
  2. Add this mixture to the flour along with salt and mix well. Add sufficient water and knead to a soft dough. Set aside for ten to fifteen minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into equal portions and shape into balls. Flatten each ball and roll them into thin discs.
  4. Mix the processed cheese and mozzarella cheese in a bowl.
  5. Put some cheese mixture in the center of each rolled disc and gather the edges to make them look like an envelope.
  6. Heat a non-stick pan. Place the bread and roast till golden from both sides basting with melted butter.
  7. Serve hot.
