Ingredients list for Dum Methi Murgh
- 750 grams Chicken cut into 2 inch pieces on the bone
- 2 teaspoons Kasuri Methi
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 6-8 black peppercorns
- 3-4 Green cardamoms
- 1-2 cloves
- 1 star anise
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 1 black cardamom
- 3-4 green chillies slit
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 tablespoon Garlic Paste
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 3/4 cup yogurt
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons Almond Paste
- Readymade dough for sealing
Method
- Heat ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add black peppercorns, green cardamoms, cloves, star anise, cinnamon stick, and black cardamom and sauté till fragrant.
- Add green chillies and sauté for a minute. Add onion, mix and sauté till translucent. Add garlic paste and ginger paste and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
- Take chicken in a bowl, add yogurt, turmeric powder and salt and mix well. Transfer this into the pan and sauté for 3-4 minutes on high heat.
- Reduce the heat, add almond paste and kasuri methi and mix well. Add ½ cup water and mix.
- Seal the rim of the pan with the dough and cover with a lid. Cook for 15-20 minutes, switch the heat off and transfer the gravy into a serving bowl. Serve hot.
