Ingredients list for Brown Bread - SK Khazana
- 2 cups Whole wheat flour
- 2 cups Refined flour
- 2 tablespoons Milk powder
- 2 teaspoons Castor sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 2 tablespoons Activated yeast
- 2 tablespoons Softened butter
- as required Milk wash
- as required Melted butter
Method
- Sieve whole wheat flour, refined flour and milk powder into a bowl. Add castor sugar and salt and mix well. Make a well in the centre, add yeast and mix. Add sufficient water and knead into soft dough.
- Dust plain flour on the worktop, keep the dough on it and knead stretching it a little. Apply softened butter and continue to knead. Keep the dough in a bowl, cover with a damp cloth and set aside for 20-25 minutes to prove.
- Dust flour on the worktop, keep the dough on it and knock back the dough. Roll the dough into a disc of medium thickness. Fold from one end to the other to make a log.
- Place the log in a greased and dusted bread tin and cover with a damp muslin cloth. Keep aside to prove for 15-20 minutes.
- Preheat the oven at 180º C.
- Brush milk on top, keep the tin in the preheated oven bake it for 15-20 minutes. Take it out of the oven and brush melted butter on top.
- Let it cool down to room temperature. Slice and serve.
