The cuisine of The United States is a rich amalgamation of peoples, religions and cultures thanks to the immigrants from different parts of the world.  They brought with them their local ingredients as well as cooking styles with them.  Yet amidst all these varieties Chinese and Italian cuisines dominate.  
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Blueberry Trifle Recipe

  • Blueberries 1/2 cup to garnish

  • Blueberry jam 1/2 cup

  • Vanilla sponge cake 1 eight-in

  • Fresh cream chilled 2 1/2 cups tablespoons

  • Sugar 3 tablespoons

  • Cranberry juice 2 tablespoons

  • Vanilla custard 2 cups

Method

Step 1

Take 2 cups fresh cream in a mixing bowl, add sugar and whisk till sugar dissolves

Step 2

Slice sponge cake thinly and then cut into small cubes and put into another mixing bowl. Add cranberry juice and mix. Add half the blueberries and mix.

Step 3

Whisk blueberry jam till smooth and put into a small piping bag fitted with a thin nozzle.

Step 4

Pipe out thin strips on the inside of 4 stemmed glasses.

Step 5

Divide half the cake mixture equally among the glasses. Put 2 tbsps cream over the cake pieces in each glass. Put the remaining cake pieces over the cream. Keep the glasses in the refrigerator for some time.

Step 6

Take custard in a 3rd mixing bowl and whisk till smooth. Add 4 tbsps cream and whisk well.

Step 7

Bring the glasses out of the refrigerator, pour the custard on top and level it with a knife. Decorate with swirls of blueberry jam.

Step 8

Give it a web like effect with a toothpick. Place a few blueberries in the centre of each glass and serve immediately.
