Ingredients for Batter Fried Onion Rings Recipe

  • Onions 4 medium

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 1/4 cups

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 1 teaspoon

  • Buttermilk 1 cup

  • White pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Soda bicarbonate a pinch

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil for deep-frying

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon


Step 1

Peel and cut onions into thick rings and separate the layers.

Step 2

Whisk together, refined flour, cornflour, buttermilk, pepper powder, soda bicarbonate, salt and little water in a bowl to make a smooth batter.

Step 3

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, dip onion rings in the batter and deep fry till golden brown.

Step 4

Drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot sprinkled with chaat masala.
