Ingredients list for Batter Fried Onion Rings

  • 4 medium Onions
  • 1 1/4 cups Refined flour (maida)
  • 1 teaspoon Cornflour/ corn starch
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon White pepper powder
  • a pinch Soda bicarbonate
  • to taste Salt
  • for deep-frying Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Chaat masala

Method

  1. Peel and cut onions into thick rings and separate the layers.
  2. Whisk together, refined flour, cornflour, buttermilk, pepper powder, soda bicarbonate, salt and little water in a bowl to make a smooth batter.
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, dip onion rings in the batter and deep fry till golden brown.
  4. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot sprinkled with chaat masala.
