Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Batatya Cha Kees Recipe

  • Potatoes peeled, grated & soaked 7 medium

  • Roasted Peanuts 2 tbsps + to deep fry

  • Whole dry red chilli broken 5

  • Black raisins 2 tablespoons

  • Roasted peanuts 1/3 cup

  • Cashewnuts roasted 1/3 cup

  • Sugar powdered 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Cumin powder 2 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Heat two tablespoons of oil in a kadai and fry the chilli pieces. Drain and set aside. In the same oil fry the raisins, drain and set aside. Heat sufficient oil in the kadai.

Step 2

Drain water and pat dry the grated potato by rolling between folds of a dry cloth. Deep-fry the grated potatoes on medium heat, till they become crisp. Drain and place on an absorbent paper.

Step 3

In a bowl mix the fried grated potatoes, roasted peanuts, cashewnuts, black raisins, red chillies, powdered sugar, salt and cumin powder. Let cool completely and serve or store in an airtight tin.
