Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Aloo Chat Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes 2 large

  • Sweet Potatoes boiled, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes 1 large

  • Lemon juice 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Ginger cut into thin strips 1 inch piece

  • Banana peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes 1 large

  • Tamarind pulp 2 tablespoons

  • Green chillies finely chopped 2

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped 1/2 bunch

Method

Step 1

Add half teaspoon of lemon juice and a pinch of salt to ginger strips, keep in the refrigerator. Apply half teaspoon lemon juice to banana cubes and keep aside.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl take potatoes, sweet potatoes and bananas. Add remaining lemon juice, tamarind pulp, green chillies, chaat masala, salt, coriander leaves and toss lightly. Serve garnished with ginger strips.
