How to make Orange Rice Pudding -

British cuisine has always been a multicultural - a pot pourri of eclectic styles.  However Britain's culinary expertise is not new! In the past British cooking was amongst the best in the world.  Traditional British cuisine is substantial, yet simple and wholesome.

Ingredients for Orange Rice Pudding Recipe

  • Orange Juice Finely shredded 1 teaspoon

  • Orange rind soaked 1/3 cup

  • Fresh orange juice 1/2 cup

  • Raisins 1/2 cup

  • Skimmed milk 2 cups

  • Honey 1 1/3 tablespoons

  • Vanilla essence 1/4 teaspoon

  • Dates seeded and chopped 6-8

Method

Step 1

Soak raisins in water for fifteen minutes. Squeeze out excess water. Preheat oven to 160°C. Boil milk in a non-stick saucepan.

Step 2

Drain and add rice to the boiling milk, reduce heat and cook, stirring continuously till the rice is soft and the milk is completely absorbed.

Step 3

Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Combine cooked rice with honey, raisins, vanilla essence, dates, orange rind and fresh orange juice.

Step 4

Pour into a medium sized ceramic or glass ovenproof dish. Bake the pudding in the preheated oven for fifteen minutes. Serve warm or chilled.
