Italian cuisine has developed through centuries of social and political changes, with roots stretching to antiquity.  Italian cuisine is simple and a number of dishes having only four to eight ingredients.  They rely mostly on the quality of ingredients rather than elaborate preparation.
Noteworthy changes in Italian cuisine happened with the discovery of the New World and the introduction of potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers and maize, which are now an integral part of this cuisine.  Italian cuisine is known for its regional diversity each with a distinct taste.  This cuisine today is probably one of the most popular in the world.

Ingredients for Lightning Lasagne Recipe

  • Lasagne sheets 6-8

  • Tomato sauce to taste

  • Green capsicum 1

  • Fresh button mushrooms sliced 8-10

  • Olive oil 2 tablespoons

  • Tomato sauce 1 bottle

  • White sauce 1 1/2 cups

  • Processed cheese grated 1/2 cup

  • Parmesan cheese 1/4 cup

  • Red capsicum cut into small cubes 1/2

  • Parsley chopped 1 tablespoon

Method

Step 1

Heat plenty of water in a deep non stick pan. Add salt and add lasagne sheets. Cook till al dente and drain.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 200?C. Cut green capsicum roughly and put into a chopper jar. Add mushrooms and crush roughly.

Step 3

Heat olive oil in a non stick pan, add capsicum-mushroom and sauté till they sweat. Add tomato and basil pasta sauce and mix well. Add a little salt and mix well.

Step 4

Drain the lasagne sheets and refresh in cold water. Spread ½ cup white sauce at the base of a baking dish. Place a couple of lasagne sheets over it.

Step 5

Spread some of the sauce and cover with a couple of lasagne sheets.

Step 6

Repeat these layers till all the lasagne sheets and sauce are used up ending with lasagne layer. Spread the remaining white sauce and top it with processed cheese followed by parmesan cheese

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. Let it remain in the oven for some time.

Step 8

Garnish with red capsicum and parsley and serve hot.
