Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Chicken Jhalfreizi - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Chicken breast boneless, cut into 1 inch pieces 300 grams

  • Lemon halved 1

  • Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Ginger garlic paste 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 3 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Onion medium, finely chopped 1

  • Tomato large, finely chopped 1

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Yogurt 2 tablespoons

  • Dried fenugreek leaves 1 teaspoon

  • Cashewnut paste 1 tablespoon

  • Tomato medium, sliced 1

  • Onion medium, sliced 1

  • Green capsicum medium, sliced 1

  • Fresh coriander sprig for garnish


Step 1

Take chicken pieces in a large bowl, add squeeze juice of ½ lemon, add ½ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp garam masala powder, ½ tbsp ginger-garlic paste and salt and mix well. Set aside to marinate for 10-15 minutes.

Step 2

Meanwhile, heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and let their colour change. Add chopped onion, mix and sauté till golden brown.

Step 3

Add remaining ginger-garlic paste, mix well and saute till raw smells disappear. Add tomato, mix and sauté tomato turns pulpy.

Step 4

Add coriander powder, red chilli powder, remaining turmeric powder and salt, mix well and saute for 1 minute. Add ½ cup water, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.Add yogurt, mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes.

Step 5

Add chicken, mix well and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Crush kasuri methi and add and mix well. Add cashewnut paste and mix well. Cook till chicken is done.

Step 6

Add sliced tomato, sliced onion and capsicum and mix well.

Step 7

Squeeze the juice of remaining ½ lemon and mix well. Add remaining garam masalapowder and mix well. Cook for 1 minute and take it off the heat.

Step 8

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
