How to make Thai Rice -

How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Thai Rice Recipe

  • Basmati rice cooked 3 cups

  • Firm Beancurd 4 tablespoon

  • Firm beancurd (tofu) 50 grams

  • Eggs 2

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Shrimps shelled and deveined 1 cup

  • Tamarind paste 1 teaspoon

  • Fish sauce 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Brown sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Crushed roasted peanuts 1/4 cup

  • Bean sprouts 1/2 cup


Step 1

Heat 2 tbsps oil in a non stick pan. Slice tofu and shallow fry.Heat 2 tbsps oil in another non stick pan. Break eggs into a bowl and whisk.

Step 2

Add garlic to the second pan and saute lightly. Add shrimps, tamarind paste, fish sauce and mix. Add red chilli powder, brown sugar and mix. Add rice and mix. Drain tofu slices and place on a plate. Add eggs to the same pan and scramble and add to the rice.

Step 3

Mix well and saute for 2 minutes. Add crushed peanuts and most of the bean sprouts. Roughly break some of sautéed tofu and add and mix lightly. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with remaining tofu and remaining bean sprouts and serve hot.
