Ingredients
- 4 raw bananas
- 2 medium onions
- 3 tablespoons oil
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon split skinless black gram (dhuli urad dal)
- ½ teaspoon split Bengal gram (chana dal)
- 2 green chillies
- 15-20 curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 1 lemon
- 2-3 tablespoons scraped coconut
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
Method
- Trim off stems, halve the bananas and boil them in water with a little salt.
- Chop onions.
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal and chana dal and sauté till light brown.
- Chop green chillies. Add curry leaves and onions to pan and continue to sauté.
- When bananas are half done, drain them, cool, peel and grate thickly.
- Add green chillies to onions and sauté for ½ minute. Add grated bananas, salt and mix well. Cook till heated through.
- Add juice of a lemon and mix. Add coconut and mix. Chop coriander leaves and add. Mix and serve hot.
