Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Lacchedar Barfi Recipe

  • Khoya 250 grams

  • Powdered Sugar 125 grams

  • Petha (sweet) 250 grams

  • Edible green colour a few drops

  • Kewra essence a few drops

  • Silver warq 2 sheet


Step 1

Knead khoya till smooth. Mix in sugar and knead again. Grease a tray. Cut the petha in long fine shreds. Place on heat if there is any syrup so as to dry it completely.

Step 2

Mix khoya and dry petha and place on medium heat. Cook, stirring continuously, till the mixture forms a mass. Add green colour and kewra essence and mix well.

Step 3

Remove from heat while the mixture is still quite wet. Pour barfi onto the greased tray and level the surface. Cool completely and garnish with silver warq.

Step 4

Cut into desired shapes and serve.
