Ingredients list for Jeera Rice - SK Khazana
- 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
- 1 1/2 cups basmati rice soaked for 30 minutes and drained
- 3 tablespoons ghee
- 1 star anise
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 7-8 black peppercorns
- 3-4 green cardamom
- 3-4 cloves
- salt to taste
- 2 teaspoons fresh coriander leaves chopped
- Fresh coriander sprig to garnish
Method
- Heat ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add star anise, cinnamon, black peppercorns, green cardamom, cloves and cumin seeds and sauté till fragrant.
- Add rice and sauté well. Add 3 cups water and salt and mix well. Let the mixture come to a boil, reduce heat, cover and cook for 10-15 minutes.
- Add chopped coriander and take the pan off the heat. Gently mix with a fork to separate the rice grains.
- Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
