Ingredients list for Jeera Rice - SK Khazana

  • 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
  • 1 1/2 cups basmati rice soaked for 30 minutes and drained
  • 3 tablespoons ghee
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 7-8 black peppercorns
  • 3-4 green cardamom
  • 3-4 cloves
  • salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoons fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • Fresh coriander sprig to garnish

Method

  1. Heat ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add star anise, cinnamon, black peppercorns, green cardamom, cloves and cumin seeds and sauté till fragrant.
  2. Add rice and sauté well. Add 3 cups water and salt and mix well. Let the mixture come to a boil, reduce heat, cover and cook for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Add chopped coriander and take the pan off the heat. Gently mix with a fork to separate the rice grains.
  4. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
