French cuisine consists of cooking traditions and practices from France. At one time French cuisine was heavily influenced by Italian cuisine.  It was in the 17th century that some chefs led a movement that developed France’s own indigenous style by shifting it away from its foreign influences. Cheese and wine are a major part of the cuisine, playing different roles regionally and nationally, with many variations.
French cuisine was codified in the 20th century as the modern haute cuisine. Knowledge of French cooking has contributed significantly to Western cuisines and its criteria are used widely in Western cookery school boards and culinary education. 
French regional cuisine is characterized by its extreme diversity and style. Traditionally, each region of France has its own distinctive cuisine.

Ingredients for Chocolate Nut Fondue Recipe

  • Chocolate 8-10

  • Fresh cream 5-6

  • Walnut kernels 4-5

  • Plain chocolate grated 1 1/2 cups

  • Fresh cream 1 cup

  • Rum or brandy 2 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Chop almonds, cashewnuts and walnut kernels. Place these in an ovenproof plate and roast in an oven at 180?C for ten minutes.

Step 2

Melt chocolate in a microwave oven on Microwave HIGH (100%) for two minutes.

Step 3

Remove and stir thoroughly with a spoon. Alternatively, put grated chocolate in a pan and place on a double boiler. Keep stirring gently till the chocolate melts and the mixture is smooth.

Step 4

In another pan, heat the cream for a minute. Mix the cream into the chocolate.

Step 5

Cut fruits like plums, bananas, apples and peaches into bite sized pieces.

Step 6

Take a fondue set and switch it on. Pour chocolate sauce in it. Add rum and roasted nuts. Mix well.

Step 7

Dip the fruit pieces or marshmallows into the chocolate fondue with a fondue fork, coat them evenly with chocolate and consume immediately.
