Sugar is that one ingredient which has been an indispensable part of our diets, since times immemorial. It holds a record of being one of the oldest ingredients. In connection to this, India is considered to be the home of both sugarcane and sugar manufacturing. Interestingly, sugar manufacturing took pace in India between the 4th and 6th century, where it was carried out through the simple process of crushing the cut pieces of cane through a heavyweight and then boiling its juice. After which it was stirred until solids were formed. The obtained solids were of uneven shape and sizes, termed as ‘sarkara.’ The modern word now, which we call as sugar was derived from this sanskrit word.

Are you upset seeing the recent stain of mud or grass you got on your favourite dress? And you’ve tried all possible solutions, but in vain? This can be a true saviour. Make a thick paste of sugar crystals and water, rub it well on the stain, let it sit for about an hour and then wash it. Done with the stain!
