Your refrigerator
If your fridge is not cooling enough, you might need to check the condenser coils. The coils happen to be found on the back or below your fridge, make sure your fridge is many inches from the rear wall and that there is space on top, nothing can block the heat from shooting off the coils. Make sure your fridge light is turned on, this just means that your fridge is getting energy. If it isn’t, check the circuit breaker or make sure your fridge is plugged into the wall. Other things that you could do: clean the drain hole and drip pan, check and clean the gaskets with vinegar to prevent the growth of mildew, change the water filter and check for level. Schedule your refrigerator cleaning on your calendar or use an online reminder service to ensure that you keep up with your regular maintenance. Consult your refrigerator owner’s manual to see if there are any additional maintenance items recommended for the model that you own.
Your washing machine
Don’t overfill or pack your clothes in too tight. If a washing machine will not spin or agitate, make sure that the touch pad or timer is set in the right way. Make sure the hot and cold water is turned on. Check the water-fill hoses because over time, the water hoses that came with your new washing machine may leak or burst. It's a good preventive maintenance practice to check these hoses from time to time for any sign of wear or weakness. Check the leveling. Because your washing machine is so heavy, when it is not level, it can vibrate strongly during the spin cycle. If your washing machine is not perfectly level--with all four legs touching the floor--it can bang and rock back and forth, and even begin to "walk" across the room. This is not good for the machine and may damage anything near the machine. Keep the surface clean too. Your washer has either a painted steel or porcelain-coated steel cabinet. It's perfectly safe to use a little dish detergent and a damp rag to clean all of its surfaces. If the surface is porcelain, you can even use a little non-abrasive cleanser for stubborn stains. Most washing machines collect lint during the wash cycle. Clean the lint filter which you need to slide out, clean off, and reinsert.
Your dishwasher
It is totally normal for the dishwasher to not drain because either the drain hose or the air gap (if the unit has one) is clogged up. Drain hose clogs typically go on once too much food particles are piled in with your dishes. Some washing issues could be the result of hard water deposits. Hard water should be checked and cleaned if necessary. You don't need to clean the interior of your dishwasher if you use it regularly. If it goes un-used for a week or more and begins to mold or smell bad, you have to clean it. For the exterior of your dishwasher, a damp sponge and a little dish detergent will suffice. Keep the inside of the machine rust free. If the plastic coating wears off of the tines of the dish racks in your dishwasher, they may corrode and rust. You must get them fixed. In many dishwashers, there's a filter near the bottom, or under the lower spray arm that needs to be cleaned regularly. If you have this sort of filter, check your owner's manual to find out how to remove and clean it. If it has holes in it, replace it to protect the pump and motor seals from particles that may be in the dishwasher. Over time, the small holes in the spray arm(s) of your dishwasher may become clogged with bits of paper, toothpicks, glass, etc. Your dishwasher will do a better job of cleaning your dishes if you take a moment to clean out these small holes, from time to time.
