There are some hacks which you must know while you are cooking. Whether it is storing, frying, baking or more, these tips are going to be super helpful.


How to preserve pickles for longer time?

Pickle and preserve.

Sterilize the jar and dry it properly. Once it is dry, brush some oil on the inner sides of the jar. The pickles will stay fresh for longer.


How to make pakodas crispy?


Banaiye karaare pakode!

To make crispier pakodas, add a tablespoon of rice flour in the batter. You can also add a teaspoon of hot oil to the batter to make them crunchy.


How to get rid of the pungent smell of mustard oil?

Well, there’s no smell!

Before using mustard oil for preparing vegetables etc., heat it to a point till light smoke emerges from it. This would remove the pungent smell from the oil.       


How to retain the softness of paneer after frying?

Soft and simple!

To keep the cottage cheese soft after deep frying, add a pinch of salt to lukewarm water and dip the paneer into it.


How to store leftover soup or stock?

Soup in a cube!

Put leftover soup or stock in ice cube trays and freeze them. The soup cubes can be wrapped and stored in the freezer. This makes it possible to serve small amounts of soup or use the entire batch for another meal.


How to avoid tikkis from breaking while frying?

Don’t let it break!

If you are making patties or tikkis with potatoes, always make sure that the potatoes are boiled well in advance and cooled before you use them. It would be better if they can be refrigerated for a short time. This helps the starch in the potatoes to settle down and the tikkis will not break while frying.    


How to avoid dried fruits from sinking while baking a cake?

Don’t let it sink in!

To prevent raisins or fruits from sinking in cakes and puddings, coat them with dry flour and add to your batter, they will not sink to the bottom during the baking process.


How to make Kheer faster?

A secret sugar tip saves time!

When making kheer, add sugar only in the end, after the rice is cooked. Or else, the rice will remain under cooked and the process will lengthen.


 How to remove a baked cake from the tin?

Good things take a little more time!

Wait for some time before attempting to remove cake from moulds. Cooling for some time allows them to shrink slightly and thus they are easier to remove.
