Easy makeover for your kitchen cabinets

Cabinets are one of the most functional and prominent features in your kitchen. Designed to last for long, these storage spaces become boring to look at after some time. However, you can make your kitchen cabinets look new and attractive by changing trims and mouldings whenever you want. What’s more, revamping your kitchen cabinets will also help you give your kitchen a makeover, without spending much.

The conventional method of installing trims requires you to screw or nail them onto your cabinets. However, removing the nails and screws leaves behind ugly holes, which can be concealed only with trims that can be fixed to the cabinets in the same old way. However, these greatly limit your options and will also not add much to the looks of your cabinets. In which case, you need to use a drill-free method to install trims onto your kitchen cabinets.

Here are a few tips to help you get started:

•For a neat finish, always dissemble your kitchen cabinets before you start installing the trims.

•Choose a trim fastening technique based upon the type of trims you are going to fix.

Using Hot Melt Polyurethane along with PL Premium Construction Adhesive’s PL200 is excellent way to fasten the trims to your cabinets. For securing the joints, yellow glue or Titebond II glue along with Titebond Hi-Purformer Glue Gun is excellent.

While the adhesives are drying, you need to secure the trims in place by clamping with generous amounts of fiber tape or with slivers of 3M Double Sided self-adhesive tape. For lacquer finishes, the easy-to-peel green masking tape is highly recommended. To prevent scraping or scratching the cabinet’s surface, while securing the trims, you can use Kickers as well.

No matter how careful you have been, there is bound to be some amount of minor damage related to the cabinet finish, which can be corrected with a few touch ups. When employing any new method, initial hiccups are to be expected, but given time and some practice, you will realize that these tips will indeed make your task simple and easy.
