Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Chicken With Bamboo Shoots Recipe

  • Chicken cut into 1 inch cubes 600 grams

  • Bamboo shoots canned 3

  • Mustard oil 2 tablespoons

  • Green cardamoms 5

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Green chilli paste 1 tablespoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli paste 1/2

  • Tomatoes finely chopped 2 large

  • Salt to taste

  • Coconut milk 1 cup


Step 1

Heat mustard oil in a non stick kadai. Add green cardamoms and sauté for a minute. Add onion and sauté lightly.

Step 2

Cut the bamboo shoots into cubes. Add green chilli paste, turmeric powder, red chilli paste, tomatoes and chicken to the kadai and sauté for 2 minutes. Add salt and mix.

Step 3

Add 1½ cups water and bamboo shoots. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes. Add coconut milk and cook for 4-5 minutes.

Step 4

Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot
