Ingredients list for Turichi Gode Varan

  • 1/2 cup Split Pigeon Pea
  • 2 tablespoons Jaggery
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • a pinch Asafoetida
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder

Method

  1. Wash and cook the tur dal till fully cooked. Combine it with jaggery and mix well. Cook over low heat, add a little water and salt and bring to a boil. Take it off the heat.
  2. As an option, a tempering of ghee, asafoetida and turmeric powder could be given but tur dal is preferred without any tempering.
