Tomato Chutney

Spicy and tangy chutney made from fresh tomatoes, goes well with parathas, pulaos and any other meal.

Ingredients 

  • 1 kilogram tomatoes chopped
  • Salt to taste 
  • 2 medium onions chopped
  • 2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup vinegar

Method

  1. Put the tomatoes in a deep non stick pan and cook on medium heat.
  2. Add salt and mix. Add onions and red chilli powder and mix. Add sugar and stir till it dissolves. Cook till the excess moisture evaporates.
  3. Add vinegar, mix and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Transfer into sterilized bottles and store in refrigerator when cooled down to room temperature. Use when required.
