It takes only a few essentials to get one of the most popular Italian desserts right. When literally translated it means ‘pick me up’ or to put it in a better way ‘make me happier’!

cut each slice of cake in half. Dissolve the gelatine in three tablespoons of hot water. Whip the cream with powdered sugar till stiff and set aside.
Whip the egg yolks with sugar and one tablespoon of water in a double boiler, or in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water, till the mixture forms thick ribbons.
Set aside to cool.
