Sicillian Meat Balls Recipe - How to make Sicillian Meat Balls


Prep Time : 16-20 minutes

Cook time : 26-30 minutes

  • Mutton mince (keema) 250 grams

  • Almonds 15-20

  • Pine nuts(chilgoza) 2 tablespoons

  • Garlic 8-10 cloves

  • Salt to taste

  • Cinnamon powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Egg 1

  • Parmesan cheese shavings 100 grams

  • Raisins 2 tablespoons

  • Bread crumbs 1/2 cup

  • Milk 2 tablespoons

  • Oil 4 tablespoons

  • Arrabiata sauce (190 gms each) 2 bottles


Step 1

Put almonds, pinenuts and garlic cloves in a chopper. Add minced mutton, salt and cinnamon powder and process till well blended.

Step 2

Break egg and add and process for some more time. Add parmesan cheese and continue to process. Add raisins and process some more.

Step 3

Place the breadcrumbs in a bowl, add milk and mix well. Add mince mixture and mix well. Keep this mixture in the refrigerator for about ½ hour.

Step 4

Heat oil in a non stick pan. Dampen your hands, and divide the mince mixture into equal portion. Shape each portion into lemon sized balls and put them in the pan. Cook on high heat, turning sides, for 3-4 minutes.

Step 5

Lower heat, cover and cook. When the meat balls are half done, add arabiata sauce mix gently. Cover and cook, on medium heat, for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve hot.
