Break eggs and separate egg whites. Grind the almonds to a fine powder keeping aside a few for garnish. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
Beat egg whites stiff, till they stand up in peaks. Add sugar very gradually, beating continuously. Lastly beat in ground almonds and baking powder.
Grease two small pie dishes and pour the mixture equally between them. Bake in the preheated oven at 180ºC till the tops are a faint golden in colour. Remove and cool.
Whisk cream till it is fairly thick. Sandwich the cream between the two pies and decorate with the almonds and cherries. To serve cut in slices.
