Ingredients list for Pavakkai Varuvval

  • 2 medium Bitter gourd (karela)
  • 1 teaspoon Tamarind paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • to taste Salt
  • to deep fry Oil

Method

  1. Cut the karelas into thin slices and place in a plate.
  2. Add salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Wash them thoroughly and drain on absorbent paper.
  4. Transfer onto a plate. Add red chilli powder, tamarind paste and mix well.
  5. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep fry the karela slices till crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Transfer on a serving plate, add salt and mix well. Serve hot.
