Ingredients for Matar aur Mangodi Kadhi Recipe

  • Green peas 1/2 cup

  • Moong mangodi 1/2 cup

  • Sour yogurt 1 1/2 cups

  • Gram flour (besan) 3 tablespoons

  • Oil 6 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Garlic 3/4 cloves

  • Curry leaves 6-8

  • Dried button red chillies (bor mirchi) 8


Step 1

Heat 4 tbsps oil in a non-stick pan. Combine gram flour, yogurt, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and whisk till smooth. Add 3 cups water and mix well.

Step 2

Add mangodi to the pan and sauté till golden. Heat 2 tbsps oil in a deep non-stick pan.

Step 3

Add asafoetida, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds and sauté till lightly browned.

Step 4

Add finely chopped garlic along with curry leaves and button red chillies. Sauté for ½ minute.

Step 5

Add yogurt mixture and cook, stirring, till slightly thick. Add green peas and mangodi and cook till they are well done.

Step 6

Serve hot with steamed rice.
