By Sanjeev Kapoor 11 Apr 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Red lentil Split, Fresh Mint Cuisine Indian Course Snacks and Starters Prep Time 51-60 minutes Cook time 26-30 minutes Serve 4 Taste Mild Level of Cooking Moderate Others Veg Ingredients list for Lentil And Mint Patties 1 cup Red lentil Split 1 cup Fresh Mint chopped 3 tbsps + for deep-frying Oil 3-4 cloves Garlic chopped 2 medium Onions chopped 2 tablespoons Tomato puree 1/3 cup Bread crumbs to taste Salt to taste Black pepper powder 2 tablespoons Refined flour (maida) Method Soak dal in two cups of water for half an hour. Drain and set aside. Heat oil, add chopped garlic, stir for a moment and then add chopped onions and cook till soft. Add dal and cook for a few minutes. Add about two and half cups of water and boil dal till soft and all the liquid is absorbed. Mash dal, cool and then mix with tomato puree, chopped mint, dried breadcrumbs, salt and pepper powder. Divide it into small equal portions. Form them in to a round tikki shape and then coat with refined flour. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai on moderate heat. Deep-fry these patties until crisp and golden brown in colour. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot with chutney of your choice.
