Kalimirch ka poha

Poha tossed with peanuts sauteed in a tempering of mustard seeds and cumin seeds and flavoured with chaat masala.

Ingredients list for Kalimirch ka poha

  • 5-7 Black peppercorns, peeled and crushed
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Peanuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 2 Green chillies, finely chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Chaat masala
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, chopped

Method

  1. Place poha in a colander and wash well. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a non stick pan. Add peanuts and sauté till golden brown.
  3. Drain on an absorbent paper and set aside.Add cumin seeds in the same oil, once they crackle, add mustard seeds.
  4. Once they splutter, add green chillies. Sauté for a minute.
  5. Add drained poha and toss.Add salt, peppercorns and lemon juice and mix.
  6. Add chaat masala, coriander leaves, peanuts and toss. Cook for two to three minutes.Serve hot.
