Ingredients for Italian Apple Dessert Recipe

  • Apples 4 small

  • Fresh cream

  • Butter 1 tablespoon

  • Sugar 1 tablespo

  • Apple juice 1/4 cup

  • Eggs 2

  • Orange rind 1 tablespoon

  • Fresh cream 2 cups

  • Bread one day old 6-8 slices

Method

Step 1

Peel, core apples and cut into medium thick roundels.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 200°C. Grease a baking dish with butter. Arrange the apple roundels in it. Sprinkle one tablespoon of sugar and pour apple juice over.

Step 3

Bake in the preheated oven at 200°C for ten minutes. Beat eggs, add half a cup of sugar and mix. Add grated orange rind and fresh cream and mix.

Step 4

Place bread slices (removing crust, if required) over the apple slices and press well. Pour the egg-cream mixture over it.

Step 5

Reduce oven temperature to 160°C. Bake in the preheated oven at 160°C for twenty to twenty five minutes.

Step 6

Serve hot.
