Ingredients for Cauliflower Steaks Recipe

  • Whole Cauliflower whole with leaves and stems removed 1 medium

  • Tomato Puree 1 inch piece

  • Oil 4 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper powder to taste

  • Refined flour (maida) 1/4 cup

  • Onions finely chopped 1 1/2 medium

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Fresh tomato puree 1/2 cup

  • Tomato puree readymade 1/4 cup

  • Jalapeno 7-8 slices

  • Fresh coriander leaves as required

  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish


Step 1

Cut cauliflower vertically into thick slices/steaks. Finely chop ginger. Heat 2 tbsps in each of 2 separate non-stick pans.

Step 2

Mix salt and pepper powder with refined flour in a bowl. Sprinkle salt on cauliflower slices/steaks.

Step 3

Add onions, garlic and ginger to one pan and sauté till golden. Coat cauliflower slices/steaks with the flour mixture, dust off excess and place in the second pan.

Step 4

Cover and cook till the underside is golden brown. Add both the tomato purees to the onions in the first pan, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.

Step 5

Flip the cauliflower slice/steak, cover and cook till the other side is golden brown. Roughly chop jalapeno slices and add to the first pan, mix well and add salt.

Step 6

Mix again and add 2-3 tbsps water. Stir to mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 7

Add the masala from the first pan to the cauliflower, cover and cook till done.Chop coriander leaves and add. Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.

Step 8

Garnish with a mint sprig and serve hot.
