Prawns are normally translucent when raw but get their distinctive pink or red colour on being cooked. one word of caution – if buying unpeeled prawns, smell for freshness and look for bright, shiny shells that have some spring left in them.

Ingredients for Baked Prawns With Honey Mustard Recipe

  • Tiger prawns peeled and deveined with tails intact 20

  • Honey 2 tablespoons

  • Mustard seeds 2 tablespoons

  • Sea salt to taste

  • Garlic 10-15

  • Ginger 1 inch piece

  • Water 1/4 cup

  • Lemon 1

  • Red chilli sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Extra virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons


Step 1

Preheat oven to the highest temperature. Grind mustard seeds, sea salt, garlic, ginger and ¼ cup water to a fine paste.

Step 2

Halve the prawns lengthways and put them in a bowl.

Step 3

Add salt, squeeze juice of 1 lemon and some chilled water to cover them completely.

Step 4

Let them soak for a few minutes and drain completely.

Step 5

Pat them dry on a tissue and put them back into the bowl.

Step 6

Add red chilli sauce, ground paste, honey and extra virgin olive oil and mix well.

Step 7

Arrange them on a baking tray in single layer and cook in the preheated oven for 5-8 minutes.

Step 8

Serve hot immediately.
