  • Spinach leaves (palak) chopped1 bunch

  • Onion finely chopped2 medium

  • Gram flour (besan) 2 tablespoons

  • Carom seeds (ajwain) 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil to deep fry

  • Green gram (sabut moong) soaked2 cups

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Cloves 5-6

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 2 teaspoons

  • Garli crushed7-8 cloves

  • Onion finely chopped1

  • Green chilli finely chopped2-3

  • Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped for cooking


Step 1

To make the spinach dumplings take spinach leaves, onions, gram flour, carom seeds, turmeric powder and salt and mix well.

Step 2

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Make small balls of the spinach mixture and deep fry till crisp.

Step 3

Drain on absorbent paper. And set aside.

Step 4

Pressure cook the dal with three cups of water and salt for three whistles. Remove and set aside.

Step 5

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add cloves, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, garlic cloves and saute for a minute.

Step 6

Add onions and saute till translucent.

Step 7

Add the cooked dal and mix. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder and cook for five minutes.

Step 8

Add spinach dumplings and cook for more five minutes

Step 9

Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
