By Sanjeev Kapoor 19 Mar 2021 in Recipes Veg New Update Main Ingredients Button mushrooms, Oil Cuisine South Indian Course Main Course Vegetarian Prep Time 6-10 minutes Cook time 21-25 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for South Indian Mushroom Masala 10-12 Button mushrooms quartered 1 1/2 tablespoons Oil 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon Split skinless black grams (dhuli urad dal) 4-5 Curry leaves 1/2 teaspoon Ginger-garlic paste 2 Medium onions chopped 12-15 Cashewnuts 1 Medium tomato chopped 1 cup Tomato puree 1 tablespoon Sambhar powder 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder to taste Salt 1 tablespoon Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon Fresh cream to garnish Fresh coriander sprig Method Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add split black gram, curry leaves and ginger-garlic paste, mix and sauté till raw smells disappear. Add onions, mix and sauté till golden brown. Add cashewnuts and mix well. Add tomato, mix well and cook till tomato turns pulpy. Add tomato puree, mix well and saute for 1 minute. Add sambhar masala powder and turmeric powder and mix well. Add mushrooms and mix well. Add salt, mix well, cover and cook for 4-5 minutes or till the mushrooms are cooked completely. Add coriander leaves and fresh cream and mix well.
