Wash dal two to three times in plenty of water. Soak in one and half cups of water for twenty minutes.
Cook the dal in the same water in which it was soaked, with slit green chillies and turmeric powder in a pressure cooker for four to five minutes or until soft.
Soak cauliflower in warm salted water. Similarly cook the cauliflower, carrots, drumstick and French beans in one cup water in the pressure cooker for three to four minutes or until tender.
Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds, stir briefly and add chopped ginger, garlic and sauté for a minute. Add red chilli powder and coriander powder and stir briefly.
Dilute the tamarind pulp in quarter cup of water and stir into the pan. Add cooked lentils and vegetables along with its cooking liquor to the pan, mix well and add salt.
Continue to cook for three to four minutes on medium heat or till all the ingredients combine well. Serve hot.
