Ingredients list for Oats Kande Pohe

  • 1 cup Oats
  • 2 medium Onions finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups Pressed rice (poha)
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • a pinch Asafoetida
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 12-15 Curry leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Roasted peanuts
  • 1 inch pie Ginger finely chopped
  • 2 Green chillies finely chopped
  • 2 medium Potatoes boiled peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Green peas
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • to taste Salt
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped

Method

  1. Soak poha in a bowl for 2-3 minutes or till soft. Add the oats and strain the two.
  2. Heat oil in a non stick kadai. Add asafoetida, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and peanuts and sauté for 1 minute.
  3. Add ginger and green chillies and sauté 1 minute.
  4. Add onions and potatoes and mix well and saute for 2 minutes.
  5. Add poha, oats, turmeric powder, green peas, sugar, salt, lemon juice, coriander leaves and mix well.
  6. Let it heat through. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
