Just when you thought that green peas are only used to add that extra punch to your savoury dishes, try a rich, creamy matar ki kheer to satiate your sweet buds too!

Ingredients for Minted Pea Soup Recipe

  • Green peas Thawed, frozen 2 cup

  • Mint leaves 5-6

  • Oil 1 teaspoon

  • Onion 1 medium

  • Garlic 2 cloves

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Vegetable stock 2 cup

  • Milk 2 cups

  • Lemon thinly sliced 1


Step 1

Heat oil in a non stick pan. Chop onion and garlic and add to the pan and sauté lightly. Add green peas, salt, pepper powder and 1½ cups vegetable stock and cook till peas are soft. Strain and reserve the stock. Cool the peas and put into a mixer jar. Add mint leaves and remaining cold stock and grind to a smooth puree.

Step 2

Pour the puree into the pan, add the strained stock and mix well and heat. Add milk and mix. Cook till it comes to a boil. Pour into individual bowls and serve hot. If you want you can serve the soup with a slice of lemon.
