Ingredients list for Methiwale Chawal

  • 1 1/2 cups Basmati rice soaked and drained
  • 2 cups Fresh fenugreek leaves (methi) finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 medium Tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Slice onion.
  2. Add cumin seeds and onion to the pan and sauté till onion is translucent.
  3. Add fenugreek leaves and mix well. Add salt and mix again and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add tomatoes, turmeric powder and coriander powder and mix well. Add rice and 3 cups water and mix well. Add red chilli powder and mix well. Cover and cook on medium heat till the rice is done.
  5. Transfer into a serving plate and serve hot.
