Ingredients list for Kalakand Fruit Custard

  • 5 pieces Kalakand
  • 1 Red apple , cored, cut into 1/2 inch pieces and soaked in wa
  • 1 Pear , cored and cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Custard powder
  • 15-20 Walnuts
  • 1 1/2 cups Milk
  • 4-5 tablespoons Caster sugar
  • to garnish Orange segments
  • to garnish Fresh pomegranate pears
  • to garnish Red grapes , seeded and halved

Method

  1. Roughly chop walnuts. Dry roast the walnuts in a non-stick pan till crisp. Transfer into a bowl.
  2. Take milk in another bowl, add custard powder and mix well.
  3. Transfer the custard mixture into a deep non-stick pan and cook on medium heat, whisking continuously till the mixture starts thickening and reaches pouring consistency.
  4. Add castor sugar. Break kalakand pieces and add and mix well with a whisk till the mixture thickens further. Add half the roasted walnuts and apple and mix well.
  5. Pour half the custard into a deep serving plate. Add pears and pour the remaining custard mixture. Garnish with orange segments, pomegranate pearls, remaining roasted walnuts and red grapes. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours or till set.
  6. Serve chilled.
